Cannot get win2000 to start in Virtualbox

I am on Kubuntu 8.04. I have installed and configured VB. When I try to start guest OS win2000, I get

The VirtualBox kernel driver is not accessible to the current user. Make sure that the user has write permissions for /dev/vboxdrv by adding them to the vboxusers groups. You will need to logout for the change to take effect..
    VBox status code: -1909 (VERR_VM_DRIVER_NOT_ACCESSIBLE

Could someone tell me how to proceed?

Go to terminal and type in kcontrol
once there, go to System Administration
    Click on User Management
Click Administrator Mode (you will need your sudo password for this)
click on your name under the users tab
    click modify
click on the Privileges and Groups tab
On the right hand side there will be the secondary groups list
check the box next to vboxusers
    hit okay
    then hit apply/okay
and you should be set to go

ps: it also never hurts to log out and restart the X server after applying the new settings

All that is done. The problem as I understand it is permissions for /dev/vboxdrv, however that is accomplished (but perhaps I misunderstand). Some discussion on the web about similar probs. Thank you.
