Wants Kubuntu on Acer Aspire One [SOLVED]

    Hi!
I just bought myself the Acer Aspire One mini laptop, and the Linux distro on it (LinPus lite I think) is maybe a little too userfriendly, so I want to try Kubuntu on it.

There's no cd/rom, so I'll need to boot the live cd from a memorystick, how do I do this?
Will 8.04 have drivers for the One's hardware? If it doesn't, is there any distro that will work on it?

isn't that only gonna make me able to boot the OS from the USB only when the usb is plugged in? I want a permanent install.
Isn't there a program that makes it a little easier to make the stick bootable like a cd/rom?
I have both linux and windows, so any app will do.

Thanks alot, got Kubuntu up and running, and everything works great except for the wireless function. When I go to Hardware Drivers Manager it says that "support for Atheros 802.11 wireless LAN card" is in use, but no networks are listed in KNetwork Manager.
I've got a Wireless switch in the side of the laptop to turn the wireless on or off, but it wont turn on. The light for the wireless isn't lit.
          Any solutions?

it was a little outdated, but it worked as soon as I got the hold of the newest drivers available for the wifi. thanks alot

I take it from your latest post, that you now have a working wireless connection. If so, good job! Bet you're a happy camper.
