No sound on laptop: Code outputs included

I have a Toshiba Satellite A205-S5843, 2.5 x32, 2g SDRAM, 160GB HD. I have no other OS installed on the system. The system is brand new and every thing worked fine (except for constant crashes related to windows explorer) for the 3 weeks I had Vista. I deleted Vista with a KillDisk bootdisk and everything in Kubuntu is working magnificently except for wireless and sound. I deleted my last post after reading many guides on linux and learning how to ask the right questions and provide proper information. I also split the two problems I am having in each of their own threads. I am sorry if these are not all of the codes you need. These are the only ones I have learned so far. Thanks for your help.

On Another note, I want to thank SirCaptain for his help and guidance. He has been invaluable in pointing me towards the right direction. Thank you, Sir.

Re: No sound on laptop: Code outputs included

I had the same problem too. I installed from the alternate CD yesterday - sound was fine, did a kernel and related updates and then no sound upon reboot.

I recall hearing something about alsa before - so I figured I would give that a shot. I installed the alsamixergui and the alsaplayer-alsa, and anything else in the list on adept for anything alsa related that sounded important or neat. Once everything was installed I then made sure all of the mixer settings were set to non-zero and non-muted for the outputs.

I just checked sound and it works for me now. I have an intel 82801G audio chip, for what that is worth.
