I've been following the instructions found in an ubuntu forum for setting up multimedia apps and mplayer plugin. I received the following errors when executing the final step to write to mplayerplug-in.conf
dan@dan:~$ sudo kwrite $HOME/.mplayer/mplayerplug-in.conf
[sudo] password for dan:
Error: "/var/tmp/kdecache-dan" is owned by uid 1000 instead of uid 0.
Error: "/tmp/kde-dan" is owned by uid 1000 instead of uid 0.
Error: "/tmp/ksocket-dan" is owned by uid 1000 instead of uid 0.
The mplayer plugin doesn't work in firefox. However the mplayerplug-in.conf file does exist and I successfully wrote to it as the post instructed
