Why not go to hardy?
I would recommend backing up your home directory and doing a fresh install instead of trying to do an upgrade over more than 1 step.

How about using a USB stick (is it called flash?) for your personal files, and then doing the fresh install? Hardy 3.5 has proved very reliable in my experience. (Only Wifi has been a bit of research.)Comment
