...can one run? I am running Hardy with kde3.5, 4.1rc1 and gnome desktops. Now I am curious about the intrepid ibex. Can i run an intrepid alpha install as well, side by side with Hardy?

Re: How many parallel boots....
I am confused. What do mean by parallel?
Do you mean dual / triple/ quad booting or choices in the login seesions chooser?
In the first case, definitely. Just give Intrepid its own partition and install.
The second will prove more difficult if not impossible.HP Pavilion dv6 core i7 (Main)

Re: How many parallel boots....
Good, because the second, well.....
Anyway if you are new to partitioning go here:
http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php
get the cd and read the docs on that page. Lots of useful info on partitioning.
while you are at it consider setting up a separate /home partition. This will save a lot og agro in the future.
Enjoy

Re: How many parallel boots....
Dynamic disk? If you mean mounted, no. Follow Fintan's link, download the iso (some 30MBs I believe), burn it, boot the live CD and do the partitioning from there.
