    Already stumped

Hmm. I've decided to make the switch from Windows to Linux. I've installed Kubuntu 8.0.4.1 inside windows off a .ISO mount. I can see the physical files on my hard drive, but rebooting doesn't bring up a dual boot selection screen. Did I miss something, or is there a preference file somewhere that I can modify?

    Thanks in advance.

If it is installed "inside" Windows, then it's either a WUBI or a VM. So you'll have to boot it "inside" Windows, in whatever virtual installation that you made.

Dual boot setups require that Kubuntu be installed "alongside" Windows, in a separate partition on the hard drive.

Wubi looks like the images below.

Then, when you reboot, it will offer you the option to select Ubuntu/Kubuntu from the XP boot list.

What ISO/Program did you use to install Kubuntu under Windows?
      The answers are out there...

        Thanks for the answers, guys.

I decided to burn the image and go from there. The install demo GUI isn't recognizing my mouse or keyboard...Any suggestions?

        Thanks again.

That is unusual -- I wonder about the quality of the CD. Here are tips to make a good CD:

          1. Verify the md5 sum on the downloaded file -- the checksum is on the download site.

          2. Burn it slow -- DAO mode and 4X burn speed.

          3. Cheap media can sometimes be a problem. Check it on another computer if in doubt about a Live CD.

Did you make a Live CD, or Alternate Install? If Live CD, does it recognize the mouse and keyboard when you run it as a Live CD?

If no, tell us about your hardware.

If you are using a USB Keyboard/Mouse..........leave them plugged in......but, change to a PS2 combo.
To help 'kick-start' your Kubuntu installation. ( a 'required recommendation'.)
Your ISO version, like the others have stated, is 'missing'...the "dual-boot' file, that's all.
Get it, incorperate it into your ISO version....and, give the installation another go.
