    Re: Internet?

Do you know the wifi chipset you have?

If not do 'lspci' and you should see something like
    Code:
06:02.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02)
06:06.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ (rev 10)
post that back here and someone will sort you out.

        Re: Internet?

Can you hook up your computer to Ethernet? If so try searching "Wireless" in adept. You should get a few results such as Knetworkmanager, Kwifi....eh I can't remember all the results, but get pretty much whatever you think you'll need. Try configuring those. My results have varied based on the chipset I'm using, so you might have to play around a bit.

You could also try manual editing your /etc/network/interfaces file, but I only know how to do that with my specific chipset.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, I'm no expert at this XD

If you got the "Live CD" to work, means that you are using another OS...as your main OS.
          What is it?
And, do you remember 'how'...you set up your 'wifi'...in that?
          I use ADSL................and, had no problem.............in setting up Mozilla's "Thunderbird".........in Kubuntu 8.04 LTS.
          Works the same as XP.
If you're trying to set up Kmail.... that's a different story.
Some parts of it are a bit 'iffy'...to use.
(The reason why I went to "Thunderbird".)
If you can get your "Home-page" working......from the start, that's a good indication that your 'wifi' has been detected...by Kubuntu.
In other words, you should be able to "Receive"...not to send.
All you have to do, then, is to 'set-up'....your e-mail.
Read carefully, then, set up as you did on your other (main) OS.

I hate to be a bother, but most of your post is offtopic.
