    Re: fastest browser?

Actually VirtualBox would be about 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000x times better than an IE4Linux or crossover.
    1)It's free
    2)It would be FASTER
    3)It would be EASIER
4)It would be the ONLY safe way to use windows

The only draw backs would be creating the OS images and the storage space that Xp is going to take up. Plus if you were like me, I don't have an actual XP install disc, so i couldn't make a image of xp. I mean i did but i couldn't get it to pass windows validation because it doesn't read the Hardware directly. But i would diffently try the VirtualBox method.

      Funny nobody's mentioned Flock yet...

But anyway, why oh why oh why do people need this M$ IE? I have never come across a site which would not display in FF (2 or 3) and be interested in a link so I can tell the webmaster a piece of my mind

konqueror (kde3, not 4) the fastest. Atleast on my system
I also use Firefox 2,3 and opera, but mostly to check if my designed web pages are displayed correctly.

There you go... the problem is the product, and not that web page...

Also... I didn't vote, but I would say that the current KDE4 Konq is definitely not the fastest.

                Re: fastest browser?

Kon bombs way too much for me - I have FF on here and I get a lot more uptime than with Kon. Give a noob Kon for his default browser and you've lost a potential *nix convert. No matter how fast it is, if it's not stable, you can fageddaboudit...

                    Re: fastest browser?

Zepper, konqueror has perhaps crashed five times over the last year, but never for browsing (which I don't really use it for, but it does happen on a weekly basis). So I cannot concur with your experiences...

                      Re: fastest browser?

Well, toad. Maybe it gets more stable if you install Kubuntu to the hard drive and do a bunch of updates to help it like running a beta ver. of KDE, but my experience with running Kon in the Live Kubuntu (with the updates suggested by Adept) has been horrible. It won't display the gmail.com normal mailbox display (says page is loaded but nothing shows on the screen except the loding bar) so I have to choose the basic HTML display. And then after reading, deletiing, setting to unread, etc. Blam! Kon is gone. It'll stay up maybe for 10 or 15 minutes max (often less than a minute) while FF3 will stay up for an hour or more. Based on that and my long history with Netscape (almost from the beginning of Web time for normal people), I'll be staying with some form of Mozilla (probably Seamonkey as I prefer the all-in-one experience).

                        Well, so would I!

But as you suggested, I do have an up to date, properly installed system and I, too, use FF Konqueror on my system is simply too slow, albeit stable.
