    Problems with display settings

Hi folks, I've just installed Kubuntu last night, I'm a .net developer (getting into php) and Vista has been the final nail in windows coffin for me, anyway I'm getting a problem when trying to change my display settings, basically any time I click Apply there's a crash and the title bars on all my windows dissapear, I've pasted the error message below, any help would be great!
    thanks

    Re: Problems with display settings

when the title bars on your windows disappear, that means your window manager is crashed or gone or something. in kde the window manager is called kwin so if you want to try and start it again try running this:

    kwin --replace

    or just kwin

in konsole or xterm or at the alt-f2 prompt
and the window title bars will probably come back, if it just crashes again i'm not sure though maybe try turning of deskstop effects, i'll reread your post and see if anything comes to mind

oh its when you change your display settings.. thats weird. make sure your packages are all up to date with apt-get update && apt-get upgrade all maybe that might help.. maybe some package is broke.
