      Re: Repo problem.

Does this mean that I can safely try to install it to my system? Let me guess; sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop ?

        Re: Repo problem.

Following the advise from Psychocats, use:
        sudo aptitude install ubuntu-desktop
You do have sufficient space on your HD for this, yes?

I have plenty of disk space. I will give it a shot.

Remember, "During the installation process, you should be asked whether you want to use KDM or GDM as your default display manager. If you think you'll use Gnome more frequently, make GDM your default. If you think you'll use KDE more frequently, keep KDM as your default."

              Re: Repo problem.

Uhm......I ran the command, and when I was done, not only was there no option to log into a gnome desktop. My kde4 was gone as well.....
Now I have a kde3.5 desktop with lots of gnome apps in my kmenu. Did I do something wrong?

                Re: Repo problem.

That is quite weird. Try to reconfigure it with
                Code:
                sudo dpkg-reconfiugre kdm
If that doesn't work you may want to try gdm or kdm-kde4 to see whether they pick up the new environment.

                  The kdm-kde4 is gone.

                    Re: Repo problem.

Well. I managed to locate the session manager and the gnome desktop is accessible, but the only clues left of my kde4 is a couple of apps in the menus. These are konsole and Ksystemlog. Now I don't consider this disastrous or anything, but strange and annoying.

                      Re: Repo problem.

Well. I have reinstalled kde4, and now things seem to work fine. Thanks for the help.
