    Repository not connecting (Solved)

After fiddling around with the live disc for a week or two, I just finished installing Kubuntu 8.0 KDE 4. Odd thing is, the software repository isn't finding anything. Off the live CD it worked great; I even downloaded Firefox and Thunderbird to fiddle around with. But now I have it installed, it simply doesn't find anything.

I automatically assumed that it would simply connect if there is an internet connection available; do I have to do some configuring myself to get it working properly?

    Re: Repository not connecting

are u sure u have internet access on the linux box?

    try in the terminal

    whois 4.0.0.0

do u get anything? if so?

    try

    sudo apt-get update

when u insert ur pw, it won't show as you type, just type it as normal.

if you get any errors, post the output here on the forums.

I've gotten it; apparently I couldn't download any new apps until I updated everything else on my system using Adept. On to other things, such as trying to figure out how to rearrange the widgets in my panel among other things.
