installed programs not seen

I am a newbie to linux. After installing kubntu hardy heron I ran package manager. updated and installed some media players and anti-virus using the package manager but on restarting I could not locate the software that I have installed. kindly help me

Welcome to the party

If you are using kde4 you may have to log out (not reboot!!) and log in again for the changes to take place. Kde4 is still beta

In kde3 your apps should be somewhere in kmenu.
