    Burning 'Live' CD - how?

I am struggling with this. Been at it for two hours now, and still have not found a clear answer.

I have downloaded Kubuntu 5.10 - both versions, the 'Live' and the other one. Now I need to make a CD. I have Nero 5.5, which gives many options, including CD-ROM (ISO), CD Copy; CD-ROM (Boot), and Burn Image.

I don't understand all the distinctions, but here's my guess. Burn Image makes a Nero proprietary .nrg file; CD-ROM (ISO) makes a non-booting ISO file; CD-Copy duplicates an already burned CD, and; CD-ROM (Boot) makes a bootable ISO - but requires something called a template for the source image data - which sounds like it is NOT the ISO file - and requires that I select some emulation profile.

Totally confusing. So, can someone tell me what has to happen with the downloaded file? And maybe suggest a simpler alternative to Nero in order to get the ISO file onto CD in whatever manner is needed?

install this http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm (you might need to reboot)
when that is done right click the iso in windows explorer and there should be an option allong the lines of burn image to disk

      Go with Burn Image.

Here's more about burning an .ISO with Nero.

Ah. Thanks! The Nero function is easy - once the correct options are known!

So now I've got bootable CDs of both the 'Live' and installation versions of Kubunti 5.10.

I've had the Live version working on my laptop,
and have been trying to get the installation version running.

I thought it was all going to plan, but after finishing the installation and rebooting, I am prompted for a login and password. When I provide those, the system responds with machineID@username:~$

What's that about? What am I supposed to do next?
