Disable updates on some packages

I just installed kubuntu 8.04 and almost all what I needed ...but for some reason the ffmpeg package that I got from universe using apt-get didn't worked for me...so I compiled it from source....but now adept-updater keeps trying to update my ffmpeg...is there a way to stop update notifications only from some packages??

Have you tried with the Medibuntu version ?

This package is built with the "risky" option, to enable mp3/mp4/h264/amr
support. Therefore, it is in Medibuntu as it might violate patents.
