Changing order of operating systems in boot loader

I'm not exactly a noob to Linux, but I am new to Kubuntu. I've been using Mandriva for about six months.

I just installed Kubuntu Hardy Heron on my desktop computer, and I have noticed that the boot interface is much different from that of Mandriva. In Mandriva, there is a very simple graphical interface that can be addressed from the Mandriva Control Center. This does not seem to be present in Kubuntu.

I would like to change the default setting in my boot loader. I would also like to delete some unnecessary choices from it.

    How should I do this?
