Update from 7.10 to 8.04 with Disc instead of download.

    Hi All,

I live in Sunny South Africa and we are capped on bandwidth, thus I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade from 7.10 to 8.04 with the disc I have received via mail without "losing" / "formatting" all my goodies already in 7.10?

The upgrade / update via the update manger would use up 1,7Gb of my 2Gb CAP = not good for me for the rest of the month.

If this is the wrong place to post sorry.

    HI !

Do you have alternate CD ?

    HardyUpgrades/Kubuntu tells:
    Kubuntu Hardy Heron Upgrade

To Upgrade from Kubuntu 7.10 to Kubuntu 8.04 using an 8.04 alternate CD start with:

    1) Insert the alternate CD, open it in a new window,...
    Before you edit, BACKUP !

Why there are dead links ?

      Hi Rog 131,

      Thanks for the help.

I tried as described but when I run kdesu "/cdrom/cdromupgrade", I get an "Command not found!" error.

        Any help?? Anyone??

I tried all sort of things an still can not get update to run from Alternate CD??

        Still "Command not found"

My Acer Laptop requires a BIOS password to boot from CD and I can not find any way to change this.
