Kubuntu installation fails to start on a laptop

I have an Acer Aspire 5672 laptop.

When I get to the boot screen and try to install, I eventually get some error that says something like "ae_not_found". (this goes for live CD as well).

In order to help, we will need a more exact description of the problem than "somethng like...". If something happens on bootup from the live CD, it has nothing to do with installation, since the live CD doesn't install anything. Aside from putting the CD in the drive (unless that's actually the only thing you do) what have you done before you get the error message? What output have you seen from the machine, especially, what was the line, or screen immediately BEFORE the error? Finally, please give the exact wording of the error message.

in the boot prompt, when the computer boots up the CD, try typing: linux vga=771

but a better description would be very helpful
