    Change a dual boot

    Hello All,

I have a IBM Thinkpad X24 with Windows 2000 dual booting with
Mandrake, using the boot (loader?) that came with the mandrake (i.e. the boot choice screen at the beginning is a mandrake one). My hard drive has a Fat32 partition on which windows is running, and three other partitions of which I have no idea what they are, but I think were created when I intalled mandrake.

I'd like to replace the Mandrake portion of the dual boot with Kubuntu.
How do I go about doing this WITHOUT losing access to my current windows 2000 install?

I'm fairly familiar with windows machines, but very new to linux, and was able to install Mandrake the first time since I just had to put the CD in the drive.

    Thanks - Jan

    Follow these directions:

Just ignore the parts about resizing the Windows partition--that's already been done.
