Adept manager not working

when i try to start adept manager, it says you cant use this to change the computer settings because some other program is accessing the database.
It says adept is running in the back ground

How to make the adept work again

To fix Adept errors:
Open a console and type:

sudo dpkg --configure -a

should fix it, else continue with

sudo apt-get clean

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install
