burning Kubuntu, ISO image

    burning Kubuntu, ISO image

    I downloaded the files for Kubuntu annd Xubuntu
    and they both are ISO images...So, all I have to do
    is burn both files to separate discs to attempt installation??

    Also, I'm most likely going to install one of them on computers
    that are all currently running Windows 98. The computers are
    a Gateway (year = about 2000) it has a Pentium I processor
    and/or an HP PC (also about 2000) with an Intel Celeron processor. I don't think
    either of them are over 128 MB in RAM. I've got at least 2 Gigs of free space on
    both of them....So, my question: Should I go with Kubuntu or Xubuntu?

    I'm not how to check my specs either. I'm sure that would be helpful,
    but what exactly should I be posting ?

    Sorry I'm such a n00b....

    128 meg of Ram and 2 Gig of available space is definitely going to rule out installing Kubuntu. I'm not very confident that you will even be able to get Xubuntu installed on such a limited system.

      Xubuntu.....might even look up Antix at the MEPIS site....pretty slim hardware, but no worries!

Minimum system requirements

To run the Desktop CD (LiveCD + Install CD), you need 128 MB RAM to run or 192 MB RAM to install. The Alternate Install CD only requires you to have 64 MB RAM.
To install Xubuntu, you need 1.5 GB of free space on your hard disk.
Once installed, Xubuntu can run with 192 MB RAM, but it is strongly recommended to have at least 256 MB RAM.

          Antix should run on a clock radio...I'd check it out

            damn!

            so, i should just buy a new pc of some sort?

            ..is there anyway i could combine all the hardware and
            make it work ? maybe then i'd just have to buy a good
            processor or something.... to be honest, i'm pretty broke
