Cannot login - password not recognised

Using Kubuntu 8.04

Until today I have had no problem log in. But today when I switched on I am presented with the normal login screen, but my password is not being recognised ("login failed").

Is there a way to reset the password or to login?

Help with this would be greatly appreciated.
