How can I adjust my screen width . My color depth was setup perfect 1280 x 1024 but it is not using my whole screen. Any ideas ?

Your monitor should have adjustments for what you are trying to accomplish. Look for a menu button on the front of it. It should show you pictures of the screen moving up and down, left and right and streching in the same directions as well as some others.
