o.k. how about installing a linksys wireless g pci card. Is it possible, and how would this be accomplished.

Trying to find out what you have exactly. Please enter in a konsole:

lspci | egrep Network\|Ethernet\|Wireless

lspci lists your pci equipment, with egrep you filter on lines containing the words Network or Ethernet or Wireless. Post the outcome here.
