Sharing Thunderbird and Kmail profiles: possible?

    Hi, everybody
I've been googling and searching in forum for the following question, but I didn't find the answer: Is it possible to share profiles between thunderbird and Kmail?

I've got partitions for kubuntu (8.04), windows XP and data; the latter partition contains the thunderbird profile to use this program both from Linux and windows. However, I would like to try Kmail with the same email account, sharing folders (inbox, etc) to get synchronized my mail either from kubuntu or from windows.

Is there any way to do that?
Perhaps, another option could be using some kind of Kmail "clone" for windows and sharing folders and configuration with Linux?

    Thanks a lot in advance

Silly question maybe - but what's wrong with using thunderbird on Linux as well? That would make the synchronisation rather easier.
I am running Ubuntu 8.10 (yes Gnome) with upgrades applied daily about 0900 UK time. Hardware is Dell Precision 420, 2x 800 MHz PIII, 512 MB RDRAM, nVidia GeForce 6800 128 MB AGP graphics, 18GB SCSI and 500GB IDE HDDs, DVD burner, Hauppage TV card.

Thunderbird and Kmail: yes, probably silly question

Yes, probably it is a silly question. However, I will explain my reasons.
The main reason for doing that is to know how functional/comfortable is Kmail in everyday use, in comparison with Thunderbird, and to have also calendar, notes, etc. in the same suite.
Also, I would like to try the default management of characters by Kmail, since Thunderbird on Linux gives me sometimes illegible characters. Probably changing some parameters in Thunderbird would solve this, but I am not very experienced (that's why I wrote to "Help the New Guy"). And, last but no least, I like to use as many original kubuntu applications as possible instead of external ones.
Well, I admit, it is mainly a question of personal taste or a kind of obsession by trying new things; in fact, that's why I began to try Linux (of course, in addition to other reasons, such as Windows' continuous crashes, viruses, etc).
Anyway, thanks by your comments; sincerely, I appreciate any suggestion.

I don't know how to have thunderbird and kmail synchronise each other. It may well be difficult. However...

        What's your email provider?

If they support IMAP, make sure both Thunderbird and KMail are using that (as opposed to POP). Then, the messages stay on the server, so will appear the same whatever client you use.

Might cause problems if you use filters in the mail clients though.

Thank you very much! I will ask my e-mail provider about IMAP protocol. Although my account is apparently configured as POP, I am usually leaving the messages in the server, so perhaps I can try... Thanks again.
