Compaq Athlon 64 desktop, 3 G RAM, Marvell wireless chipset card, plugged in PCI slot. I cant set an IP address cuz it doesn't see my wireless card. Only thing I can do is enable or disable wireless. Do I install ndiswrapper?

these links may be helpful:
look at entry #6
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/j...3/id,list_0-9/
and this link should be very helpful and get you there:
http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/9859
also, remember to use XP drivers, Vista ones are not supported

Re: How to get wireless working on my new KDE4 8.04 install?
Mathematicus, thanks for all the hints on ndiswrapper. But now I have to fix my network connection before I can get back to getting the wireless card to work! For some reason, I cant even configure my ethernet connection with this new KDE 4.0. And with no connection to the internet, I certainly cant work on getting my wireless to work.
Almost all the menus from KMenu 3.58 are missing. No KNetworkManager, etc . So I cant configure my ethernet with an IP, etc And if I try to run ifconfig from Konsole that doesn't work either.
And all the system tray stuff that I had on the bottom right is not there either. I used to be able to manually configure my network connection by clicking on that from the tray.
Can someone tell me how to get the KMenu with all the applications back, and how to get knetworkmanager to run so I can configure my ethernet interface?
thanks!
John
