How do I get Kubuntu 8.04 (KDE 3.5) to see my Zip Drive?

I have an old (but adequate) Iomega Zip Drive 100 parallel. It's connected directly to my LPT1 and through it my HP 5L functions nicely, so Kubuntu is "seeing" the connection and through-port (to coin a phrase). MY QUESTION IS: How do I get Kubuntu to recognize the zip drive? There's no "discover new hardware" or the like. Thanks.
