Using ksnapshot on kde desktop. Want to figure out how to make the png a bit smaller. Want to resize it from 344 kb to say 250 kb. Just a example. Not sure how to do that? Any ideas?? Most forums only allow your picture to be so big. The size ksnapshot makes is a bit to big to post the screenshot in a forum. Make sense?? Preciate your help.

Re: screen shot questions........
I use Gimp (Available in Adept Manager for installation) to edit my images. Allows for resizing, changing the image format, etc. A very powerful program.Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

For the benefit of others, you don't have to accept the default .png format that KSnapshot uses when you save images. You can click on the Save As button, click the drop down arrow button on the Filter selection and click on JPEG Image which will result in a much smaller file size.Windows no longer obstructs my view.

Well apparently this doesn't work that way in Ksnapshot which jpeg file is 30 to 40 K larger when I tried it.

Re: screen shot questions........
While the size difference isn't huge, saving a KSnapshot as a JPEG file does result in a file size smaller than a default PNG.
Just ran a test. Same KSnapshot image. One saved as a PNG and the other as a JPG. The PNG is 160.4 KB and the JPG is 148.9 KB. Opened the JPG image in Gimp and did a Save As (as a JPG) and changed the Quality to a lower setting (I used 80). The size drops to 141.5 KB (using my test image of course).Windows no longer obstructs my view.
