    Can't find my partition

    Hi!

I'm not sure this is the right forum but I'll give it a go.

I have just installed both win XP and Kubuntu on my laptop.

    I have these partitions:

    hda1: Windows NTFS
    hda2: Kubuntu Extended 3
    hda3: Swap
    hda4: Windows/Kubuntu Extended 2

I created my partitions when I installed Kubuntu.

From what I've heard you are supose to use Extended 2 if you what to access your partition from both Win and Linux.

I have mounted hda4 i kubuntu and I can find it.
But I can't find it in Win.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Re: Can't find my partition

If you want native read/write support, you should use FAT32.

I think there are 3rd party programs that allow reading (and possibly writing ) from/to ext2 (and ext3), but Windows does not natively support these, so if you want ease of use, FAT32 is the way to go (even though it has some limitations like lack of support for user permission control)

I don't know who told you you need a separate Ext2 partition, but this may help, regardless:

Hmm...looks like there has been some improvement in the win world, too.

        Thanks for that aysiu
