    Re: problems with kubuntu.iso

    You'd be safe with the "regular" Hardy Heron (NOT the "remix"), this version:
    kubuntu-8.04-desktop-i386.iso
    (The regular Desktop for PCs)

        The 8.04 HH "remix" version is more experimental, BUT it does have the new KDE4 system which has the Compiz (3-D cubes and Desktop effects and all). It's still being worked out, and many folks are encountering some issues with it. The sure, easy, safe thing is the regular 8.04. Later, you can get the remix, maybe even dual-boot. Unless you wish to go the remix now ...

          btw,
          I went the regular 8.04 for now (I don't need any experiments right now);

              The remix might work for you right now. There's lots of folks here using it.
              And, yes, they'll get everything fine tuned soon. I don't know much about it yet, except for all the problems I see posted on this forum re KDE4 and its "side-effects."
              That's an advantage to dual-booting: you can have your main, working, production Kubuntu AND have another experimental/fun Linux installed, and choose which to boot each time.

              Herman has done some dual-boot setups:

              (I think on the GRUB page)
