Hi all,
new to this forum, and do not know anything about kubuntu. I did not install it on my pc.
When I turn on my computer, nothing happens. Literally nothing happens. The red light is constantly on which means that the hard drive is doing something but nothing happens.
The night before I had this problem, I was doing some work on open office spreadsheet and document. I was copying tables and graphs from spreadsheet onto a new document. Sometimes, both programs would crash and a recovery window would pop up because I had not saved them, etc. This happened several times. And it wouldn't close but the OS wasn't frozen or locked up. So logged out and logged back in. Fine, start recovery but then it would freeze - restarted the pc, kubuntu loads up (well it was supposed to). It kept locking up constantly when it was kubuntu was loading (the screen with the blue bars) so restart, restart, restart, no change, wouldn't load up so I turned it off. I turned it back on, and just comes up with a black screen as described above.
The spreadsheet file was from a friend and I copied it onto my USB. When I plugged it in at school, it came up with two hidden folders. One was secret.exe and another was a notepad related to the executable. Autorun.inf or something. I don't know if that was the cause. I researched a little about secret.exe on google and it just said it was a trojan (so needed to be run personally by me) that sends out personal information about my computer to other computers via the internet. I'm not connected to the internet and I have disconnected my pc from the network just in case, it effects other pc's. I have done a virus check using Symantec Antivirus on my USB and no threats were found. Can't seem to delete the secret.exe and the other file off my USB.
The autorun.inf had the following"
[AutoRun]
open=Secret.exe
;shell\open=Open(&O)
shell\open\Command=Secret.exe
shell\open\Default=1
;shell\explore=Manager(&X)
shell\explore\Command=Secret.exe
My school is running MOE (dono what that is but all users are unable to connect to network. I think the admin is upgrading) so I don't have a working pc at home and I can't log on at school and I have lots and lots of work to do.
Seriously need some help.
Thanks
