    Where to find installed programs?

I installed Kuickshow viewer but I cannot find it in the menu. How to launch it?
I use live distribution CD Kubuntu 8.04 KDE3 on the system w/o harddisk.
    Thanks for any help.

Sometimes you need to log out and back in again for programs to show in the system menu. Otherwise, try launching it from a terminal (just type kuickshow and press enter)

And remember, if you reboot a live system, you're probably gonna lose everything! For a diskless workstation, you might consider running something from a usb flash drive instead, or if it has a reasonable amount of ram (at least 256 MB) consider Puppy Linux's multisession CD capabilities.
I am running Ubuntu 8.10 (yes Gnome) with upgrades applied daily about 0900 UK time. Hardware is Dell Precision 420, 2x 800 MHz PIII, 512 MB RDRAM, nVidia GeForce 6800 128 MB AGP graphics, 18GB SCSI and 500GB IDE HDDs, DVD burner, Hauppage TV card.

several directories, depends on the programmer. I usually keep my programs in /usr/lib/
some programs are found in /usr/local/ or /usr/share, ect.

when in doubt, use the following command to locate it: locate "PROGRAM_NAME"

        Thanks!

I have similar issue with WINE. I installed it into Live Distribution installation and installed Total Commander succesfully but I cannot find it as well. I expect that I cannot run windows programm from terminal window.
        Thank you for additonal advice!

As of boot from USB - my PC is not capable to boot from USB but only from CD. Is it possible anyhow store this live session on usb device?

          Thanks!

Don't know much about saving stuff to usb with Kubuntu live (or anything live for that matter).

As for Wine stuff - they usually install into subdirectories of .wine in your home directory. Something like ~/.wine/dos_devices/c/Program Files/
Find the program there and run it with wine program_name.exe
