    Migrate from Mint to Kubuntu

Strange question, but I have a partially functioning version of Linux Mint on my laptop currently. I want to move to Kubuntu as I fee it is a better suit for me.

However I haven't a clue how to do this. I have downloaded e-mails and documents that I would like to pull with me. However I did not properly format my hard-drive when I set-up the system. Newbie mistake, but now would like to make all of the adjustments and move.

Can someone provide suggestions or give me some advice.

    Thanks ahead of time.

Just set your BIOS to boot from your CD-ROM. Put the Kubuntu 7.10 disk in and reboot. Once you get to the Kubuntu desktop, just click Install and select "format entire drive". What didn't you like about Mint. It's based on Ubuntu and looks pretty cool.

Anytime you say laptop and any members of the Ubuntu clan, overheating becomes a challenge. I am reading that this bug is still not being addressed.

Yea I think that is my problem, my laptop simply locks up at times and I get nada. Then again it maybe that I messed it up trying to install my iPod 3rd generation, never managed to make that happen.

I really want to try KDE but want a fresh install. Problem is I know that if I do that I will wipe away all my docs and e-mails and settings. Not looking forward to trying to find all my bookmarks again. Not to mention I haven't a clue as to where thunderbird stores my e-mails.
