Now that I have been able to use Linux for a few days without it either corrupting itself or otherwise not working. I have a few questions that may help me transition better.
Why do I need to enter my password to access my NTFS partition? Since I'm in a dual boot situation there are many files that I wish for both Windows and Linux to be able to access (music, code, svn repos, email, etc). Also just today after rebooting from Windows it seems as if this stopped working. It prompts for the password, I enter it, it takes it but doesn't allow me access to the partition.
Edit: I found a solution to this problem.
