    adept installer/manager

evertime i open either adept manager or adept installer i get this error:

    database locked - adept installer

another process is using the packaging system
database (probably some other adept application or
    apt-get or aptitude).

i know this is probably an easy fix but im still learning. how do i exit everything out so i can open up and begin installing more programs?

    Adept/apt-get repair:
Close all windows that have anything to do with installing packages, close Adept, open your Konsole, and enter
    3 commands:
    sudo dpkg --configure -a
    then,
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install

    Others to use:
    sudo apt-get autoclean
sudo apt-get -f install This may be a “best” choice
    sudo apt-setup

    dpkg
Damaged or Interrupted (when using apt-get). At Konsole, run
    sudo dpkg --configure -a

(I think I got most of this originally from dibl; seems to work more often than not! Kind of a standard fix to apply from the start.)

The First three steps seem to safer to me for some strange reason. This happens every once in a while to me usually with some random package. Just use those three commands if if it ask that you want to upgrade to the maintainers version "Y" is the correct answer mostly.
