    Sound Issues

    First Issue:
How do I get my microphone working and how do I test it?

I actually thought it was working because when I installed TeamSpeak I got a number of complaints about how loud I was. I set it to 'press to talk' and the mic doesn't seemed to have worked since.

    Second Issue:
I can't play my music CDs. When I try I get an error message "error trying to open xxxx.wav". This happens in all media programs and both of my music CDs.

I've found the skype test very helpful. Plug in your mic. May need to restart kmix - it doesn't update automagically, at least not in KDE3. Make sure the volume for the mic is turned up. Next, install skype (ask if you don't know how) and use the skype testing service. It allows you to record something and plays it back to you after some seconds.

One last thing - make sure you check the audio preferences in skype to use the mic as the audio input source...

    Good luck

      Re: Sound Issues

Skype just tells me that it has problems with audio playback and doesn't do anything. This is on all all input settings.

Any reason as to why I can't play my music CDs?
