    Kubuntu without KDE???

This is really strange but I am running Kubuntu 7.10 and yet according to the Adept Manager I do not have KDE installed!!!??
I was trying to find out which version of KDE my Kubuntu is running as I can't seem to be able to use Compiz or Ksmoothdock. I have the Emerald customization in my menu but whatever I do in it it doesn't make any changes to my system!

    Re: Kubuntu without KDE

The package kde is a metapackage:
This metapackage includes all the official modules released with KDE that are not specific to development. In addition to the core KDE modules, this includes multimedia, networking, personal information manager (PIM), graphics, education, games, web development, system administration tools, and other artwork and utilities.
During a full initial installation (LiveCD) this package isn't used - the component packages themselves are used. To determine what version of KDE you have installed and are using, just click on any running Kubuntu GUI applications Help | About KDE
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

And a metapackage is ... a package of packages, a list of other packages to include, if you like.
