For no apparent reason, my Kubuntu box suddenly can't seem to get past loading screen during startup. The blue statusbar finishes, then I get a black screen with what appears to be my monitor's warning message that the screen resolution "isn't optimum."
I can press CTRL + ALT + F1 and get to the CLI, but although I'm comfortable using the command line, I don't really understand it - I usually need instructions to follow.
This problem just started out of the blue - no recent updates, no hardware changes, or anything like that. So with this meager information, can anyone suggest some things I could try?
Like I said, I'm fairly comfortable using the command line (including editing the config files, etc.), but I hate to just start poking around without knowing what I'm doing.
Thanks in advance for any ideas,
Matthew
