First off can you post your fstab? You will find it in /etc/fstab.

Secondly try doing: kmenu->system settings->advanced->disks&files->administor mode->give your password.
Now right click on your windows partition and choose edit. Give it a mount point like: /media/windows, activate the activate at boot function and make it activatable by user/all.

Activate it (green light shows) and it should be visable and populated in konqueror/dolphin und /media/windows.

If it is a ntfs partition have a look/search in these forums for and answer. There are plenty.

Welcome to the party and I hope this points you in the right direction

Re: NOT ABLE TO SEE WINDOWS PARTITION!!!!!!!!

If you were able to see the drives before, and you have recently booted into XP.

            Shutdown and boot into XP.
Do a normal shutdown in XP and reboot into kubuntu.

There are some issues with XP not cleanly unmounting the NTFS partitions, leaving information in the journal. In that case kubuntu will refuse to mount the drive.

This really sounds like the issue I discussed earlier. Windows is not properly unmounting the drive. Take a couple of boots into XP and play around there awhile. Then come back and try again.

would that be the same thing as restarting everytime...or do i officially have to shutdown and press poweR?

It might be better to tell windows to shut down. I am not sure how windows handles the shutdown/restart. Whether there is a real difference between those??

Re: NOT ABLE TO SEE WINDOWS PARTITION!!!!!!!!

If I remember correctly the only way to get windows to shutdown correctly it to shut it down not reboot.

Granted it has been a while and I also remember having to defrag the disks before getting it to shutdown properly.

Defraging a win partition from within windows has never hurt. You might want to hve a look at the permissions of those partitions from the windows side. They can be a bit confusing as well. Especially with nfts.

                              Hope this helps.
