movie playback.

when playing a movie in kaffeine or other players the display is very dark (almost unwatchable) I have adjusted the brightness/contrast sliders within the player. but that has no effect to what is displayed on the screen.

am i doing something wrong? does anybody have any suggestions please? Thanks.

sounds like you have a bad codec.. download automatix using synaptic or adept, and use that to download the codecs...
