Keep getting "Unable to lock the administration directory" in Konsole

I'm using K7.04. I seem to be getting this recurring error message when I try using Konsole to download something. The error reads: "Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?" Have to hit Cntl/Alt/Backspace to clear it, but it just re-appears. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

you have adept running? apt or aptitude running on another console? or some of them crashed? if is this the case you should find and kill the proces or ( easier but "windows style" ) reboot and retry.
