Problem 2 - Kopote or other messenger programs

I only use two kopote type programs because these programs are used by the people I converse with.
The one is Skype - which I have working on Kubuntu without problems.
The other program is GTalk from Gmail. Here I don't know what to set up and how. I'd appreciate help with this program if it is possible with Kubuntu.

Googletalk is essentially jabber, which kopete happily supports.
