    Am I root?

    Hi,
I played with some linux distros some time ago, they all had a root user account. Now in kubuntu 7.10 I don't get it. What's root password? Am I root or not? Probably not, because lots of commands need to be sudo-ed. But then I write my password and everything works - so I am root. But then why do I need to use sudo?
And quest #2: Is it possible to get the "normal" behavior somehow? (root+other users)

    Thanks for replies.
