Alt+F2 and type kcontrol
Click on Regional & Accessibility
Click on Keyboard Layout
On the Layout tab click/check the Enable keyboard layouts (if not already checked)
On the Switching Options tab select the type of Switching Policy you want and whether or not you want Sticky Switching
On the Xkb Options click/check the box for the key combination you want to use.
Click the Apply button.

Re: Windows hotkeys for keyboard layout switch?
Works in KDE4, but not in KDE3.
generated setxkbmap:
Code:setxkbmap -option numpad:microsoft,grp:ctrl_shift_toggle
Logging out, restarting xserver and then logging in has no effect.
Changing keyboard type (tried all fŗom 101 to 105-key) does not affect it.
xserver-xorg, KDE3, Hardy a4 (kernel 2.6.22-14-generic, new one breaks ine somehow), layouts, us, lv(basic),ru (winkeys). 104-key ps/2 keyboard.

Re: Windows hotkeys for keyboard layout switch?
Okay. Alt+F2 kcontrol
Regional & Accessibility | Keyboard Shortcuts | Shortcut Schemes | Global Shortcuts
Scroll down to Keyboard | Switch to Next Keyboard Layout
Default is set to Alt+Ctrl+K
Click on Switch to Next Keyboard Layout
Click Custom
Press the keys you want to use for the shortcut (this part isn't intuitive, but that's what you do)
Click ApplyWindows no longer obstructs my view.

But now it recognized ctrl+shift as ISO_Prev_Group (whatever that means), and it works OK.
Problem solved, thanks!

Re: [SOLVED]Windows hotkeys for keyboard layout switch?
You're welcome. Keep in mind, that when setting a keyboard shortcut, if the key combination you want to use is already configured elsewhere, the system is going to know that and won't let you use that combination.Windows no longer obstructs my view.
