Is GRUB a Linux or Windows util?

    Hi Guys,

This is a simple one, but Google isn't much help...

Is this GRUB bootloader a Linux or Windows util, or is it OS-independent?

The config file for it is tucked away in a Linux sub-dir, but is that just because it was set up as part of the Kubuntu installation?

    Cheers,

    Mike.

The bigpond reference given to you above will also tell you about some other bootloaders (some more Windows-related).

        Here's my How-To:
How To GRUB Methods - Toolkit
        http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3081671.0
(which is not so much tutorial as it is a toolkit to fix things)

        Finally, here's the GRUB manual:
        GRUB manual (pdf): http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/manual/grub.html
GRUB, GNU GRUB Manual 0.97 at: http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/manual/
        (free download in various formats)

GRUB is a super-dooper bootloader and will boot (almost) any operating system and can chainload many other bootloaders (like the Windows NTLDR and LILO and Syslinux bootloaders).

GRUB is a powerful bootloader. it can be used on pretty much any OS. and if Google fails....try wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GRUB
          a

and i know this question was asked, but what do you want GRUB to do? do you wish to dual boot another OS...or what?
