I seem to have rather comprehesively broken my Feisty install through trying to upgrade to Gutsy. I ran the Adept Full Upgrade thing as per the picture instructions, but got a bunch of X11 errors. The install then stalled at 2% on installing packages. I closed it, and then got adept going again through a very long series of commands - i can paste my Konsole command history if needed. To cut a longer story short, when I try to upgrade again through adept, nothing happens - I fetch updates and hit Version Upgrade, an installer is downloaded, and then nothing happens when I hit Finish. Running sudo apt-get dist-upgrade tells me that no packages need upgrading.
Also, opening most programs I get warning messages like "Protocol not supported - File"; "Malformed URL - file:///"; "Could not find mime type - application/octet stream"; "No mime types installed", and many programs do not work as a result. I would really like to find some way of rescuing this without a full reinstall, as I don't have any way of backing up my information in /home easily.
