    hyperlinks

I am unable to "activate" hyperlinks (if activate is the correct word). Clicking on Hyperlinks in my program doesn't open up the link. Whether I'm in an e-mail letter which has a URL or I'm in a list with some hyperlink, pressing on the hyperlink doesn't do a thing. It doesn't even open my browser! The only way I can get the hyperlink to go to a site written is to copy/paste the URL after opening my browser. I tried holding the control key while clicking the hyperlink but got nothing.
    More info:
I'm using gutsy gibon with Firefox as my default browser and Thunderbird as my e-mail program. Both are defined as such in system settings/default applications. As I said it isn't only URL hyperlinks that don't work. For example I have a spreadsheet with contacts. I used to be able to click a particular e-mail address in the spreadsheet and a "write" page would open in Thunderbird. Now - nada! When placing the mouse above any particular address it says the this is a "mailto:" cell but nothing happens when clicking.
The only hyperlinks that are working are those within ANY site on Firefox. Once on the internet all hyperlinks work within my browser.

Are all of your file browser icons etc, working properly with
    single-clicks/double-clicks ?

      Re: hyperlinks

Everything (except Hyperlinks) is working properly with single clicks. I even tried double clicking the hyperlinks bu nothing happened.
I just tried another experiment. I made Konqueror my default browser. Still no reaction.from hyperlinks.
