Konqueror default file view - how to make it stick!?

    Hi,

I've set Konqueror as my default file viewer, but seem unable to get it to use the "detailed list" view as my default view.

Whenever I restart Konqueror, it always goes back to the large icon view...

I've tried changing the view, then saving the profile for File Management, but it always goes back to the icon view...

    Any ideas?

    Cheers,

    Mike.

From Konqueror tree view as default

    by vbgunz:

getting Konqueror to always show a tree is a surprisingly hidden feature. yes, you could get Konqueror to show a tree (even in web browing mode), here's how you do it.

    1. Alt+F2 > kcontrol
    2. navigate to "KDE Components" > "File Associations"
    3. under "Known Types" > inode > directory
    4. select the "Embedding" tab
    5. under "Services Preference Order" move "Tree View" to the top.
(Also Konqueror : Settings > Configure Konqueror > File Associations...)

In this case, try "Detailed List View" to the top.

      Hi Rog,

Again, thanks for your help - it worked like a charm!

One other Konqueror question I had: Is it possible to set the default 'startup' view to be looking at the root directory, rather than the web-like start-page?

      Cheers,

      Mike.

Hmm - you want to bypass this ?:

Now Konqueror starts (K > Internet > Konqueror):
        Code:
        kfmclient openProfile webbrowsing

You could use (to the root):
        Code:
        kfmclient openProfile webbrowsing /
        or you could use:
        Code:
        kfmclient openProfile filemanagement /

Or do you mean something else ?

Re: Konqueror default file view - how to make it stick!?

Sorry to dig up this ancient thread again, but I'm stumped as to why my file selector absolutely insists on listing files the wrong way round, i.e. descending.

I don't remember what I did but I sure must have done something... I've checked dolphin and konquerer settings and looked in systemsettings for a way to make "ascending" stick but no joy as yet
