    Lost Adept

    I tried editing the list of repositories in adept and now it won't even open. Comes up with error "The APT database could not be opened"etc
    How do I recover from this situation? Please give detailed step by step instructions as I am new to Linux
    Thanks

    Re: Lost Adept

    1) Is there something else (a previous incarnation of Adept, or apt-get, or Synaptic etc) also loaded? What is the output (if any) of the following command (close Adept first)?

    $ ps -A | grep adept

    2) Can you post the contents of /etc/apt/sources.list?

      Re: Lost Adept

      Also what does your /etc/apt/sources.list contain? I think I might have run into a similar problem once when my first line (deb cdrom:[Kubuntu 5.10 _Breezy Badger_ - Release i386 (20051012)]/ breezy main restricted) got changed. Do you have a backup of an old sources.list? And if so have you tried going back to that?
