I had the same problem a while back, but I solved it by creating a script in /etc/init.d and linking it to the startup sequence. Not the most elegant solution, but it's been working for a year. I might post it when I get back to my home computer.
Basically, it's just the commands Wlassistant prints out when run from Konsole.
